Paul “The Bear” Ernest Edward Poulin
August 8, 1954 – October 23, 2014
It is with deep sadness that Paul’s family announces his sudden passing on October 23, 2014 at the age of 60. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Born on August 8, 1954, Paul grew up on a farm just south of Prince Albert. He attended West Central, Osborne and P.A. Technical High School. He remained very close to many of his childhood friends.
Paul had a great sense of humour and loved playing practical jokes on his family and friends. Growing up on the farm he developed a strong work ethic that carried on throughout his life. In high school he prepared to be a welder but spent his adult life as a salesman. He started with McGavin’s Bread and then moved to P.A. Bottlers in 1985, where he remained until his passing. Paul was a dedicated, hardworking salesman who travelled all over Northeast Saskatchewan. He was well respected by his colleagues and customers alike and developed a strong friendship with many of them. He was an avid sports enthusiast with a great love for the Montreal Canadiens and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
He had a passion for fishing and landed the biggest walleye of his life just days before his passing. He played hockey most of his life and ended his hockey career a few years ago with the folding of the Osborne Renegades. Later he developed a passion for golf and golfed whenever he could, often playing 36 holes a day. Paul was very close to his entire family and enjoyed the time spent at family gatherings. He especially loved being a grandpa and cherished every moment he spent with his grandkids Reese, Rachel and Hudson.
He was the second of six children and is survived by his parents Ernie and Simone of Prince Albert; sons Ryan (Amanda) and their daughter Reese of Saskatoon, Chad of Prince Albert, Kevin (Tia) and their children Rachel and Hudson of Prince Albert; his siblings Louis (Janice), Allen, Janine (Dave) Dubyk, Anita (Cam) MacDonald, and Gerald as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Predeceased by his grandparents Phillippe and Honorine Hudon and Joseph and Agnes Poulin; his nephew Mitchell Poulin. Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Celebrant Reverend Father Travis Myrheim. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Parkinson Society Saskatchewan, 610 Duchess Street, Saskatoon, SK S7K 0R1. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
