MULDOON – Pat (Lorne Patrick Lawrence)
1927 – 2012

Pat, beloved father and grandfather, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at the age of 85. Pat was born on May 17, 1927, in Plantagenet, Ontario. He grew up on the family farm before he married and eventually moved to Alberta and Saskatchewan. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Pat will be deeply missed by his loving children, Ken Muldoon, grandchildren, Garrett (Candice), Kyle, Ryan and their mother Laurel; Sharon (Roy) Halliwell, grandchildren, Ysanne (Jay) Gabora, Lindsay Halliwell (Karen) and Brandon Halliwell (Erin); Doug Muldoon; Joanne Muldoon; Janice (Rob) Lumgair, grandchildren, Arden and Kalen; Tim Muldoon (Patricia); Shaunah Muldoon (Ralph) and grandson, Kole Brown; precious great grandchildren, Garrett, Kara and Ryan Halliwell; Brooks and Bria Halliwell; Arlyn and Preston Gabora; and Elizabeth Muldoon; his sisters, Madelene Gilligan (the late Bernard), Doris Robinson (the late Denis), Helene Bornais (Gerry), Ethel Blanchard (Mike) and Lorna Lasky (Jerry); brothers-in-law, Otto Matous and Jack Johnston; sister-in-law, Leona (nee Derby) Johnston and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his beautiful, cherished wife, Marion (nee Derby); precious grandson, Matthew Brown; father, Thomas Muldoon and mother, Muriel (nee Brownrigg); sisters, Maureen Doyon and Glenda Matous; brother, Lewis; sister-in-law, Jean (nee Derby) Nickolson and brothers-in-law, Cresswell Derby and Geordie Nickolson. Pat’s career encompassed many fields. From 1943–1949, Pat was employed at Johnson Plumbing and Heating Ltd. as a plumber and steamfitter’s apprentice working on residential plumbing, steam fitting, and hot water heating systems and sewage disposal systems, and commercial projects at the Pendleton, Ontario Air Force Training Station. He was employed at Muldoon Massy Harris Implement Co. setting up various types of farm machinery, rebuilding farm tractor engines and gear drives. He was a motor mechanic with the Military Camp in Wainwright, Alberta. He worked on vehicle and tank engine repairs and service. He also worked as a lineman for Alberta Power. From 1949–1953, he was employed by Waterman Waterbury Plumbing and Heating Ltd. He became an expert journeyman/tradesman plumber, pipe fitter and gas fitter employed by Thorpe Brothers Ltd., working as foreman and superintendent of numerous domestic, light and heavy commercial and industrial work from 1954-1987. After a short retirement, Pat re-entered the work field as an instructor for SIAST Wascana Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences. Upon his retirement, Pat and Marion travelled extensively throughout Canada’s beautiful provinces and the Yukon Territory, the USA including Alaska and Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. They were avid Raider fans up until the untimely death of Marion, and spent many hours in hockey arenas across the province watching their sons’ and grandsons’ hockey games. Pat was an avid learner and mentor who taught by example. He instilled the values of earning an education, and strong work ethics. He had strong interests in historical, adventure and wildlife programs, science and technology. He was a generous and honourable man who will be deeply missed and valued by his family. At the request of Pat, no funeral service will be held. A Private Family Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations in Pat’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9.
