Owen William Hedley
December 6,1934 – July 23, 2011
It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of a dear husband, father, and grandfather – Owen Hedley, on Saturday, July 23, 2011.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna, son Marcel (Patti) of Prince Albert, daughter Evelyn (Keith) Hustad of Calgary, son Bradley of Saskatoon, grandchildren, Shanna (Caleb) Carlson, Rianne (Jonah) Stanway, Jared Hedley, Lauren Hedley, Dylan Hedley, and Kaitlyn Hustad, a sister, Barbara Scratch of Calgary, a brother, Fenwick (Rosemarie) of Regina, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Evelyn Hedley.
Owen was born and grew up in Foam Lake, SK. In 1955-1956 he attended Teacher's College in Moose Jaw, SK and began his teaching career in Riverhurst, SK where he met his future wife, Donna.
He attended University in Saskatoon, SK, where he completed his B.A., and B. Ed, then began teaching at PACI and later taught English at Carlton Comp High School in Prince Albert. He retired in 1990 and moved to Candle Lake, SK. There he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening, taking special pride in growing roses. He loved trap shooting and won many awards. After retirement Owen and Donna spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona. They enjoyed traveling and visited many countries around the world as well as most Canadian provinces.
Funerals service will be held at Gray's Funeral Chapel at 2:00 pm, Friday, July 29, 2011.
