Olivine Blain (nee Grimard) was born on December 11, 1919, in Prud’homme, SK, to Henri and Albina (nee Marcotte) Grimard. She passed away peacefully on October 17, 2015, at the age of 95 years. Olivine married Dollard Blain of Prud’homme on October 27, 1943. In 1945 they purchased J.B. Blain’s dairy farm and continued dairy farming until 1959, when they moved just outside of Prud’homme. In 1952, their son Denis was born and in 1961, they welcomed their daughter, Lise. After their move off the farm and closer to Prud’homme, Mom and Dad began raising chickens. This eventually grew into a broiler business. In 1973, they moved to Prince Albert where they purchased a 25,000 broiler chicken operation. In Prince Albert, Mom was closer to more of her siblings and their families. Visiting back and forth with family was always important to her. Several times a year, the broiler chickens would be sold and shipped to Wynyard. It required a fair amount of labor to catch all those chickens, so brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins were called in to help, and this became a family event. In 1982, they moved into the city and in 1984, the farm was sold. Mom and Dad were kept busy looking after grandchildren as needed, and often took trips around Canada and the U.S. with relatives. Mom liked to keep busy so she stayed occupied with sewing, quilting, crocheting, gardening, and other things. She also loved to play cards, especially her favorite game, Canasta. She was quick to smile and was always ready to lend a hand. On March 22, 1998, several months before their 55th wedding anniversary, Dad passed away. Mom continued to live in Prince Albert until early in 2011, when she moved to Kinistino with her daughter, Lise. In April of that year she moved into Bev’s Care Home in Kinistino, where she remained until her health deteriorated. She was relocated to Birchview Nursing Home in Birch Hills in February of 2015. Olivine is survived by her children, her son, Denis (Bernadette “Pinky”) and her daughter Lise Wildey, four grandchildren, Tennille Blain, Terra (Don) Jeanneau, Brandy Wildey and Kelly Wildey, four great grandchildren, Shaquille Tinker, Emmanuel Jeanneau, Luc Jeanneau, and Dante Wildey, her brothers, Adelard (Clara) Grimard, Willie (Lorette) Grimard, her sisters-in-law, Aline Grimard, Lucienne Grimard and Pat Grimard, along with many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Dollard Blain, her parents, Henri and Albina Grimard, her sister Angeline, and her brothers, Gaston, Oscar and Roger Grimard. The family would like to thank Bev Johnson of Bev’s Care Home for taking such great care of our Mom for nearly four years, and all the staff at Birchview Nursing Home for making Mom’s stay there enjoyable and for the compassion shown to our family during recent days. A prayer service will be held for her at River Park Memorial Chapel at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, October 21. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 22, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 4th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK by Father Matthew Nguyen. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of RIVER PARK MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Prince Albert, 306 764-2727, Donald M. Moriarty, Funeral Director
