With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Nicholas (Nick) D. Kosowan at age 96. He died peacefully with his family at his side on July 7, 2025, in Shellbrook, just several weeks before his ninety-seventh birthday.

Nick was born on August 30, 1928, in Strong Pine, Sask. He was the youngest son of Dmytro and Paraska (Kutzak) Kosowan. Nick spent his early years on the family farm. He married Frances Stanowich in 1957, and they moved to the Shellbrook area to farm. Married for 68 years, together they raised four children, and Nick, along with his son Harvey, continued to farm until a few months before his passing.

Nick is survived by his wife Frances; daughter Cheryl (Allan Kirk) and children Adam (Rebecca), Hillary (Brendan), and Nicholas (Maria); son Harvey; daughter Allison (Grant Burgess) and children Samuel and Benjamin; daughter Wendy (James Johnson); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nick was predeceased by his parents Dmytro and Paraska; siblings Mary, John, William and Helen (in infancy).

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the compassionate care Nick received while at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, Shellbrook Hospital, Whispering Pines Place Care Home in Canwood, and PIHC (Parkland Integrated Health Centre) in Shellbrook. Also sincere thanks to Beau “Lac” Funeral Home for their professional and kind assistance.

Nick’s Funeral will be held on Friday July 25, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Shellbrook Community Hall located at 103 Railway Ave. East, Shellbrook, Sask. The internment will take place immediately after the service followed by a lunch.
