Nicholas Zaleschuk
1935 ~ 2025
Nicholas “Nick” Zaleschuk passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, in Prince Albert, SK, at the age of 89 years.
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Nick Zaleschuk. Nick passed peacefully surrounded by family on the evening of September 13, 2025.
Nick was born in Rosthern, SK on October 31st, 1935, to Peter and Olga Zaleschuk. He enjoyed the rural lifestyle and often told stories and shared music of the time.
Nick did leave Rosthern and moved to Prince Albert where he met Darlene in 1956. They married in 1959. The two welcomed their first daughter, Donna (Hannah) in 1964, then only son, Brian in 1965 and finally the baby of the family, Sandy (Ilchyshen) in 1966.
Nick and Dar enjoyed family life. They made many memories for all, enjoying their life with the kids, and later grandkids, visiting family, traveling, and camping. Sturgeon Lake was a favorite camping spot. Many family and friends have fond memories of the trips, the laughs, the fishing and the music. The couple also enjoyed meeting new friends and making memories. Many of these friends were met at the Royal Canadian Legion and Army and Navy Anavets where they were very active members. “Nick Burgers” were always a huge hit at fundraisers.
Nick worked at various garages until he was hired at the Department of Highways, where he stayed until his retirement.
After retirement Nick’s favorite thing to do was golfing with his buddies. He golfed 5 days a week since retiring. Especially enjoying the links at Kachurs golf course and Marks Nine and he golfed over 100 rounds last year.
After Dar’s passing, Nick lived with his daughter Sandy. On her acreage, he enjoyed gardening and especially watching the horses roam and giving them treats. He liked the country road cruises and visits to local forestry areas.
Nick will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Nick is survived by his children, 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; Donna Hannah – James Hannah (Angela Floesser) – Julian Hannah, Darryl Hannah, Brady Hannah (Aleah Sakowsky), Brian Zaleschuk – Sarah Zaleschuk, Sandy Ilchyshen (Gary Dumont) – Kayla (Matthew Polowski) – Lexie & Aiden Polowski, Cory Ilchyshen (Kara Vansil) – Logan, Brielle, Beauden & Bennett Ilchyshen, Lee, Brendan, Brooklynn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
