MRS. NELLIE STANOWICH 1916 – 2010 Mrs. Nellie Stanowich late of Prince Albert passed away on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the age of 94 years. Nellie was born on July 30, 1916 at Gronlid, SK. After completing grade 8 she relocated to the Samburg area where she worked for her Uncle Tom Hrenyk and Adam Gutka, housekeeping and caring for young children. Nellie met her future husband John and married in 1937. They lived in the area and later moved to Weirdale where they lived on the farm until John’s passing in 2005. Nellie moved to Well Spring Care Home in Prince Albert in 2009 where she resided until her passing. Nellie is survived by her five children Frances (Nick) Kosowan of Shellbrook, Elsie (Harry) Sass of Weirdale, Mary (Ed) Podhorodeski of Shipman, Pat (Wilf) Tomchek of Ardmore, AB, Marvin Stanowich of Weirdale; her 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her 4 brothers and 2 sisters Peter (Marilou) Kantymir of Powell River, BC, Mike (Linda) Kantymir of Vernon, BC, Alex (Ellen) Kantymir of Vernon, BC, Nick Kantymir of Melfort, SK, Sophie Stanowich of Prince Albert, SK, Anna (Walter) Welygan of Melfort, SK. She was predeceased by her husband John in 2005; her parents Simeon and Mary (nee Hrenyk) Kantymir, her 2 sons Harlan in infancy and Jerry; her 2 brothers William and John; her 3 sisters Mary, Agnes and Lena. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 12 at Crossroads Pentecostal Assembly – 1510 Olive Diefenbaker Drive. Pastor Ches Jacobs will officiate. Interment will take place at South Hill Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Dr. R. Ardell, River Park Memorial Chapel and staff and special thanks to Lois and Greg (Well Spring Care Home) for their compassion and dedication.
