Nathan Horpinuk
October 14, 1933 – January 20, 2014
We the family of Nathan Horpinuk (Bob), sadly announce his passing on January 20, 2014 after a 20 year battle with cancer. Bob was born October 14, 1933 to Mike and Annie Horpinuk and lived his young life in Prince Albert. In 1961 he purchased the Shipman Hotel and operated it for 11 years – in 1971 he moved to Meadow Lake and owned and operated the Stampede Hotel, then moved on to operate the Raylen Motel in Outlook. In 1985 he retired to Kelowna, BC for 13 years, returning to Prince Albert in 2000. Bob also loved sports, especially hockey, he was signed to the New York Rangers and his signing bonus was a shirt and a tie. Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Donna; his daughter Maxine (Harvey Balicki), grandson Kevin Balicki (Linda) & 2 great grandchildren Brady and Alexis; his son Duane (Alison) Horpinuk of Calgary, AB; his daughter Joni (Jason Burnell) and grandson Zachary Niles. He was predeceased by his son Dean; grandson Bryce; his parents Mike and Annie Horpinuk and his in-laws. Anyone wishing to express their condolences to the family may do so by attending a come and go on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
