Nadia Ksyniuk

Mrs. Nigel “Nadia” Ksyniuk (nee Hordiuk) late of MacDowall, SK, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017, in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 90 years. Nigel had a strong faith in the Lord which she nurtured in her family and now has perfect peace with the Lord. Nigel was born in the Ukraine and immigrated to Canada as a young girl with her parents. Nigel’s childhood years were spent in Shell Lake. In 1943 Nigel married Thomas Ksyniuk and moved to MacDowall area where together they laboured on the farm. Nigel went out to work in housekeeping at the Victoria Union Hospital and retired after 10 years. Their retirement years were filled with community activities and bus tours to the U.S., two trips to the Ukraine and fishing. Nigel loved her flowers and gardening. She would spend hours outdoors weeding or watering her vegetables and flowers. The coffee pot was always on and a fresh baked apple cake would greet family and friends at any time. Nigel could prepare a most spectacular meal for Christmas or any special occasion. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren passionately. Nigel is survived by: her children: Paul Ksyniuk of Vernon, B.C, Caroline (Emile) Tessier of MacDowall, SK, Danny (Kathy) Ksyniuk of MacDowall, SK; her grandchildren: Sheri (Harold) Massey of Chilliwack, B.C., Michelle (Kelvin) Givotkoff of Windfield, B.C., Diane Allison of Grandfork, B.C., Alexander, Thomas and Nicholas Ksyniuk of Vernon, B.C., Lexi (Tyler) Thompson of Birch Hills, SK, Jason (Amber) Tessier of Prince Albert, SK, Jessica and Natalie Ksyniuk of MacDowall, SK and Emily Ksyniuk of Yorkton, SK; her great-grandchildren: Kaden Massey, Kelsey Givotkoff, Nadia Allison, Max and Macy Thompson, Liam and Mason Ksyniuk and Erica Ksyniuk; her sister: Ollie (Fred) Shynkaruk of Edmonton, A.B.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Nigel was predeceased by: her husband: Thomas Ksyniuk; her daughter and son-in-law: Stella (Rev. Jack) Demery, her parents: Helen and Paul Hordiuk; her brothers: Louis and Joseph Hordiuk; and her sister: Ann Martin. Prayer Service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 7:30 pm at MacKenzie Chapel, 130 9th St., Prince Albert, SK, officiated by Fr. Vasyl Kravchuk. The Funeral of Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 751 14th St W, Prince Albert, SK, officiated by Fr. Vasyl Kravchuk. Interment will follow in the Garden of Gethsemane, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes donations in memory of Nigel may be made to the St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church CWL. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium.
