Myrtle Ruth Gange (nee Giles)
(October 23, 1912 – September 17, 2011)
We are having a memorial service to celebrate the life of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, Myrtle Ruth Gange (Giles), who passed away peacefully on September 17, 2011.
She was born October 23, 1912 and grew up in a loving home of ten children. After high school, she attended Normal School in Regina to get her teaching certificate, graduating in 1931. Myrtle taught in both Davis and Red Deer Hill schools. She married Bill Gange in 1937 and they began their life together in one of the driest years of the thirties. They had two daughters and together built a successful farm.
Mom loved her yard and garden and spent many hours tending to it. She was a great cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Myrtle was active in her community and church. Her greatest claim in later years was an avid crib player and she rarely lost. She enjoyed the trips they took and later their home in Mesa, Arizona, where she had a whole new variety of trees and plants to learn about.
Myrtle is survived by her daughter Beverley (Orest) Sarabin of Calgary, AB & their daughter Karen Sarabin & her family Evan, Dana and Kyle; their son Greg (Jennifer) Sarabin and family Jeffrey & Nathan; her daughter Alice (Darrel) Boden of Red Deer Hill & their family Mark (René) Boden & children Olivia, Reid & Carter; Denise (Mathew) Koeberlin & family Tessa, Trey & Taryn and Wesley (Leah) Boden of Estevan. Myrtle has one surviving sister Enid Lee of Santa Cruz, CA. She was predeceased by her husband Bill Gange in 2002 and her parents John and Ruth Giles and eight of her siblings.
A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate mom’s life – a life well-lived, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Calvary United Church, 114 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK.
A special thanks to the staff at Good Shepherd Villa for their care. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Abbeyfield House, 190 – 26th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 1Z7 or to a Charity of Donor’s Choice.
