Myrtle Aileen Daley

Myrtle Aileen Daley passed away on Sept. 2, 2014 at the Lakewood Lodge in Big River at the age of 85. Aileen was born in the Debden area and moved with her family to Big River in 1937. She was the 4th child of 7. Aileen married Mike Daley on August 7th, 1954. They had two children, Debra born in 1957 and Daniel in 1958. They gave them five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, Aileen loved the children. Aileen worked at O.P Godin Store until her retirement in 1979. She was a clerk for years and then the butcher. She was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the A.C.W and seniors club. She always volunteered on most activities going on in Big River. In 1962 Mike and Aileen opened Daley's Funeral Home and operated together until 1995. Aileen was part of BCD Catering in the 80's, this included Barb Bradley, Grace Colby and Aileen. These true pioneer women cooked great meals for up to 1000 people. For years she was a knitter of scarves, mitts and touques for coats for the kids.
Aileen remained in her home until 2012, she then moved to Lakewood Lodge where she visited and participated with old friends.
A Funeral Service will be held for Aileen on Friday, September 5th, 2014 at 2:00pm from the Evangelical Free Church with Delores Beaulac officiating. Memorial Donations in honor of Aileen may be made to the Lakewood Lodge Auxiliary or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
