1928 – 2014
It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather Murray Worobetz on Saturday, January 4, 2014. Murray was born on November 11, 1928 in Sokol, Ukraine and moved to Canada with his parents Eva and Philemon in 1930. They settled in the Krydor district until 1945 when his family moved to the Russelville area to farm. In 1952 he married Olga (Kozak) and they started their life of 53 years together farming south east of Prince Albert. After 43 years on the farm, he retired and moved to the city of Prince Albert. Murray is survived by his daughters Lorette Worobetz and Verna (Arnold) Fedoruk; son Larry (Teresa) Worobetz; grandchildren Shane Fedoruk, Kevin Worobetz and Cathy (Brendan) Melnyk; sister Mary (Gordon) Elmer; sister-in-law Elizabeth Worobetz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Olga (Kozak); his parents Philemon Worobetz and Eva Wardenski and his brother John Worobetz. Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 at St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 770 – 14th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with celebrant Reverend Father Ivan Nahachewsky. Interment will be held South Hill Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes; memorial donations can be made to Homecare, Prince Albert Parkland Health Region, Unit D, 4050 – 2nd Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK S6W 1A2.
