In Loving Memory
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Murray Arnold Goodwin on Saturday May 18th, 2024, at the age of 58 years, following a sudden illness.
Murray was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on July 25th 1965. Murray grew up in Prince Albert until the age of 11 when his parents, Arnie and Julie, and siblings, Linda and Colin, moved to the homestead in Spruce Home, Saskatchewan. Murray loved growing up on the farm, getting involved with 4H with his horse Misty. He had many passions in life, which included family time, playing cards, socializing, sports, motorcycles, and traveling. One of his passions had him singing in the Prince Albert Winter Festival Country North Show. Murray completed high school at St Mary High School and took pride in being Valedictorian for his graduating class of 1983. After high school, Murray took off on a 6-month adventure through Fiji, New Zealand, and Australia.
Murray’s favourite place in the whole world was Waskesiu Lake, Saskatchewan. Murray spent many summers working, socializing, and enjoying life with family and friends at the cabin. Murray loved a good Waskesiu music jam and could often be heard singing to every song late into the night.
Murray met and married Leslie at Waskesiu Lake. Together they settled in Calgary, Alberta and were blessed with two wonderful children Jade and Tait. Murray received his Class 1 driver’s license and enjoyed driving truck for many years. His kids were his pride and joy. Murray spent many years coaching Tait’s hockey teams with McKnight Hockey. He assisted many young hockey players and was a loved coach by all players and parents. Murray was also a avid ‘dance dad’ and enjoyed attending Jade’s many competitions and dance performances.
Murray is survived by his two amazing children Jade and Tait, parents Arnie and Julie, his sister Linda, his brother Colin and sister in law Sondra, nieces and nephew, Courtney, Isaac, and Lauren, and many loving family members. Murray is pre-deceased by his grandparents and many, many loved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Murray was loved by all who met him. His smile could light up a room! He will be dearly missed.
‘Grief is the price we pay for love, a testament to the depth of our connections. In every tear shed and memory cherished, we honour the ones we’ve lost, keeping their presence alive within our hearts.’
A celebration of life was held in Calgary at Colin and Sondra’s on Friday May 24th. A Celebration at Waskesiu will occur later this summer. Date yet to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
