Mrs. Violet Berg

Mrs. Violet Berg, age 95, of Shellbrook, SK and formerly of Valbrand, SK passed away peacefully at Shellbrook Hospital on December 5, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the Shellbrook Pentecostal Church, officiated by Pastor Claude Tucker. Violet is survived by her son Melvin and his wife Erin of North Saanich, BC, and granddaughter Kristen Berg and her husband Wilfredo Sánchez of San Francisco, CA, many friends and honorary family members. She was predeceased by her parents, Johan and Margareta Stenberg, her brothers, Sigurd and Emil, and her sisters, Hilma, Thyra, Serena and Helen. Violet was born in Valbrand, Saskatchewan on July 1, 1915. She lived on her family’s farm until she married Elmer Berg in 1946. Elmer and Violet lived in Valbrand until 1984, when they retired from farming and moved to Shellbrook. After 52 years of marriage, Elmer passed away in 1998 and Violet continued to live independently in their house in Shellbrook. In her 26 years in town, she enjoyed a community of loving friends, new and old. Violet was laid to rest next to her husband at the Canwood North Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Shellbrook and Districts Health Services Project are appreciated.
