It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Harriett Byrne (nee Given), beloved wife of the late Marvin Byrne. Mary left us peacefully on March 10, 2021 knowing that she was surrounded by the love of her family and dear friends.
Mary was born in Prince Albert, SK on November 10, 1929, the second daughter of Billy and Norah Given of the Stanleyville District.
Mary and Marvin were married in 1947. They lived on the original home quarter throughout their 71 years of marriage until Dad’s passing in 2018. We are comforted by knowing that they are now together forever.
Mary was a kind and giving person; she loved unconditionally and gave selflessly to others. She was a beautiful soul.
Left to cherish wonderful memories are their children, Doug & Shirley, Bruce & Joan, Joanne & Brian, Keith & Marian and Ryan & Jodie; fifteen Grandchildren, fourteen Great Grandchildren and Baby Byrne due to arrive in May. She will also be remembered by her dear brother Billy, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends of all ages.
Mary was pre-deceased by her husband Marvin, Grandma’s Special Angel Grandaughter Jaden Mary, Great Grandbaby William “Billy” Bandy, parents Billy and Norah Given, Marvin’s parents, Andrew and Nancy (Agnes) Byrne, sister Miriam and husband Charles (Chub) Burnett, nephews Ted Burnett and Rick Burnett; as well as Marvin’s siblings, their spouses and many dear relatives and friends.
Mary and Marvin’s life was quiet and simple. They didn’t want it any other way. Mary absolutely lived for her family and prayed that she had instilled her values in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Material things didn’t matter, it was the pleasures of seeing the wildflowers bloom, hearing the birds sing and listening to the laughter of children that were of real value.
We will love You forever; thank You for your love and your wisdom and guidance.
Thank You, Pat and staff at Good Shepherd Villa. Your kindness and compassion given to Mom during this difficult time will never be forgotten. Dr. Alanna, thank you, you are a special person.
We will celebrate Mary’s life with family and friends in her yard this summer. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Church Cemetery, Stanleyville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mary’s memory be made to:
