Joyce McHarg
January 20, 1937 ~ May 21, 2021
We are sad to announce the passing of our mother, Joyce McHarg, on Friday, May 21, 2021 at the age of 84 years.
Joyce was born on January 20, 1937 to John and Ella Aasen in Lenvale, SK and was the youngest of six children. Joyce’s working career started with Bell’s Wedding Chapel in Melfort, SK, worked as a telephone operator for SaskTel and finally with Reitman’s Ladies Wear in Prince Albert, SK. Joyce had many hobbies including the computer, knitting, crocheting, gardening and did well making wooden lawn ornaments.
Joyce would talk daily on the phone with her sister Fern and niece Carol and could often be found outside doing yard work. A visit from a family member or friend along with a good book would make for a perfect day.
Joyce is survived by her son Garth (Nancy) McHarg and their children Dax and Madison; son Scot (Sherry) McHarg and their children Matt (Gina) and Jessica; daughter-in-law Debbie McHarg and her children Morgan, Amanda and Lindsay; sister Fern Kozak; sisters-in-law Verona and Phylis Aasen; as well as numerous other relatives.
Joyce is predeceased by her parents John and Ella Aasen; husband Doug McHarg; son Hugh McHarg; grandson Adam Arsenault; brothers: Lorne, Eldred, Telford and Garnet; sisters-in-law Engna and Elma.
We would like to thank Pat and the Staff of The Good Shepherd Villas for the years of care and support. We would also like to thank our sister-in-law Debbie for her years of friendship and devotion which made our Mother’s final years far more enjoyable.
Private Family Service will be held. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306) 922-4729.
