Evelyn Podborochynski
1948 – 2026
Evelyn Podborochynski, 77, wonderful wife, mother, sister, kitty grandma and friend passed away the morning of April 14, 2026 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert. She had a 10-year battle with cancer and 20-years of health challenges. She was a warrior and beat the odds too many times to count.
Born July 23, 1948 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan Evelyn grew up on a farm south of Prince Albert, and lived there until she met her husband Mike through friends at a dance at the Suburban Inn. Mike was the wingman but won Evelyn’s heart. They were married November 4, 1972 and danced up a storm together every weekend and New Year’s Eve until their daughter Tracy was born in 1982.
Evelyn worked for the City of Prince Albert until she retired in 2006 due to an illness. We think she knew half the city from her time spent working at the rinks and “7th hole” at the golf course. She loved to go for lunch or coffee and was always up for a chat when she saw someone she knew while out and about. She was a huge Blue Jays fan for many years and it was always entertaining watching a game with her on TV.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Mike Podborochynski; daughter, Tracy (Cameron Kautzman); Grand-kitty Jax; sisters, Dorothy Cholewa and Barbara (Robert) Sluchinski; brother-in-law, Stanley Podborochynski; nieces Nancy (Roger) Korte, Cheryl (Derek) Brecht, Lynn (Tal) Schmidt, and Lori (Derrick) Gagnon; and nephew Greg (Thusa) Sluchinski.
Evelyn was predeceased by her parents Miriam and Edward (Ted) Dewhurst, and in-laws Mary and John Podborochynski, Victor Cholewa, and Dorothy Podborochynski.
Mike and Tracy would like to thank all of the staff from Homecare over the years. Evelyn made many special connections and always talked about the nurses and aids that saw her on a daily basis. We really appreciated all the chats you had with her and made her day a little brighter.
A Celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK.
