March 8, 1928 ~ April 18, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of Esther Sherwood announce her sudden passing on April 18, 2022 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK.
Esther was born on March 8, 1928 in Frontier, SK and was the seventh of ten siblings. At the age of two, the family moved to Tweedsmuir, SK where she grew up.
Esther loved school and became a teacher and taught for 38 years where she touched many lives. She was an excellent teacher who made it her lifelong passion helping everyone she knew.
She married Ken Sherwood in 1950 and had two children, daughter Penny and son Robert. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and baked Norwegian goodies right to the end.
Esther was a gentle, caring person with a deep faith in God and a belief of everlasting life with God.
She was an Elder (member of session) as well as several different committees within the church. She was a member of the superannuated teachers and recognized for 15 years of service from the Parkland Health Region for delivering Meals on Wheels.
Esther was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Ken; daughter Penny; son Robert (in infancy), parents Arne and Francis Jacobsen; siblings Agnes (Adolf) Olson, Thelma (Earl) Daly, Alice (Jack) Greening, Howard Jacobsen, Robert Jacobsen, Gilbert (Stella) Jacobsen, Donna Baba; brothers-in-law Tom Cox and Hugh Bell.
Esther is survived by her son-in-law, Warren Crawford; grandsons, Bill (Ali) Crawford and Kent Crawford; great grandson, Charlie; sisters, Dorothy Cox and Elenore Bell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 28 Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Dennis Serfas officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In memory of Esther, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 26 – 1738 Quebec Avenue, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 200 – 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5.
