Elsie Dorothy (nee Deptuch) Rudnicki
October 19, 1935 ~ February 15, 2021
With sad and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Elsie Rudnicki, on Monday, February 15, 2021 to go to her eternal rest at the age of 85 years old.
Elsie was born on October 19, 1935 in Alvena, SK, the daughter to Pete and Rosie Deptuch. At the age of five, Elsie’s mom passed giving birth at which time she stayed with family till the age of eleven then moving to Foxford, SK. At sixteen she resided in Prince Albert, SK with Peter and Mary Markewich where she also found her first job at the Prince Albert Sanitorium. It wasn’t long before making Prince Albert home that she met Tony Rudnicki and after two years of courtship they were married on November 1, 1953 at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church. In 1956 they moved to what now is the home quarter in Smeaton. In 1963, Elsie was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis which gave her continuing challenges with her health. Although this made life difficult at times, she never complained and with the help of Tony and family she lived a good life. This never stopped her from keeping busy raising all six of her children and being involved in the farm’s day to day requirements. Most of all Elsie loved the life of raising all her children and when they grew older having her grandchildren come out to the farm and enjoying time with them. Years past and another generation has blessed the family, each time a smile would bless her lips and a sparkle in her eye as she would meet the new edition to her family.
Elsie was a farmer at heart. She knew many things about farming, gardening, and doing yard work. She loved her garden and flowers. She was many things to everyone. She loved to bake and always enjoyed endless amount of company!
Elsie liked to play ball in her early days and curled as long as she could into her 70’s. In fact, she was looking forward to the Scott Tournament of Hearts this month. Elsie and Tony went on trips such as Hawaii, Las Vegas, Deadwood, Devil’s Lake and numerous bus tours she looked so forward to.
Elsie leaves to mourn her loving husband of 67 years, Tony; children: Trudy, Kelly (Diana), Lori (Jim), Joe (Lorna), Wayne (Lorretta), Marlene (Brian); 12 grandchildren: Alyssa, Aimee, Teyla, Tia, Gerralee, Jessce, Kris, Kyle, Kassidy, Derry, Nicole, Stacy; 14 great-grandchildren: Jesco, Blakeley, Octavia, Madison, Blair, Jack, Loewyn, Annika, Kayden, Brekyn, Lexy, Mila, Taron and Roisin; brother Bob (Sally); sister Orlean; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Elsie was predeceased by her parents Peter and Rosie Deptuch; brothers Wally and Ronald; sisters Sally and Alvena.
