Eleanor Glynn
1941 – 2026
Eleanor Glynn, a woman of remarkable intellect, quiet strength, and genuine compassion, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, at the age of 85.
Eleanor devoted more than three decades of her life to nursing, building a career that reflected both her sharp mind and her capacity to lead others. For the majority of her career, she served as Clinical Coordinator of the Pediatrics Unit at Holy Family Hospital, overseeing the care of young patients while managing and mentoring the unit caregivers. She went on to lead the Operating Room, Recovery Room, and Day Surgery teams, finishing her distinguished career at Victoria Hospital. Colleagues remembered her as collaborative, forward-thinking, and a natural leader who earned the respect of everyone around her. Her memory was legendary, and her voracious love of reading reflected a mind that never stopped learning.
Eleanor’s life outside of nursing was just as richly lived. At its heart was her beloved husband Ed, her partner and companion of 60 years, with whom she shared a deep commitment to community and a life of service, joining together in Kinsmen/Kinettes and K40 where they built lasting friendships and generously contributed their time. Eleanor also found great joy in music as a member of the Sweet Adelines. In retirement, the two embraced the world with open arms, travelling across four continents and dozens of countries, leading tours and sharing their adventures with others.
She was a devoted mother to Trevor (Tammy) and John (Macy), and a proud grandmother to Brayden, Madison, Nathan, Matthew, and Ben. She will be deeply missed by Ed, her sons and their families, her sister Linda Thompson, sister-in-law June (Glenn) Sherwin, her brother Woody (Carol) Stubbs, and the many extended family members and cherished friends whose lives she touched.
A Celebration of Eleanor’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 28th Street West, Prince Albert, with interment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a Cancer Society of your choice would be appreciated.
