Dorothy A Cox
1929 – 2025
With heavy hearts the family of Dorothy Cox announce her passing on April 15, 2025.
Dorothy was born on April 10, 1929 to Arne and Francis Jacobsen in Frontier, Saskatchewan. She was the 8th child in a family of 10. The family moved from Frontier to Tweedsmuir when she was still the youngest and she learned to bake goodies at her mother’s side, when her siblings got to go to school. That inspired a love of baking treats that lasted until she was unable to continue on her own. She continued her love of baking but with assistance right up until her 95th year. From Tweedsmuir the family moved to High Prairie, Alberta where she met the love of her life Tom Cox. They were married on October 10, 1948. In August 1949 their first child Dan was born. Dorothy and Tom moved from Alberta to Fenton, Saskatchewan to help Tom’s dad with the farm. There, daughters Wendy and Cheryl were born. From the farm they moved to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to work and raise their family. Dorothy worked in retail all her life and ended her working career with Eaton’s. She was reluctant to retire, but soon after she said “I am happy I did it”. Mom was a kind and loving person that had a love of God, family and life. She enjoyed their cabin at Emma Lake, fishing, boating, and ski-doing. She was an avid curler and square dancer. Dorothy was known for her welcoming generosity and a smile for everyone. Company knew that when they came, Dorothy would always have baked goods, coffee and tea served with a smile. Dorothy and Tom also liked to travel, with trips to Hawaii, Barbados, Mexico, The Caribbean and many destinations in Canada.
