MULLER – Mrs. Diane Marie
1946-2012
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Diane Marie Muller, late of Parkside, announce her passing on May 27, 2012 at the age of 65 years. Diane was born to Lucille & Steve Banda on Dec. 20, 2946 at the Banda farmhouse near Martin’s Lake. Born the second of 10 children, Diane had many opportunities to help look after her younger siblings. Her early years were spent milking cows, swimming at Martin’s Lake, hunting, picking berries, skating and playing hockey on the slough. Diane attended school at Aldina, Paddling Lake & Marcelin. After finishing her grade school in Marcelin, Diane went on to Teacher’s College in Saskatoon. Upon graduation from Teacher’s College, Diane began her teaching career in Blaine Lake. After one year a position came open in Leask where Diane taught grade 5. While teaching in Leask, Diane met the love of her life, a local farmer by the name of Iver. Diane and Iver were married on December 27, 1967. Once married they settled into the farm house Iver had purchased recently. The house was replaced in 1983 with a new one that Iver and Diane built for their family and this is where Diane would reside for the rest of her life. Soon after Diane and Iver started their family, and over the years they were blessed with three children, Rick, Kim and Greg. Diane’s children remember great times growing up on the farm, she always made sure that the kids always had what they needed and wanted, and most times that meant extra work for Diane, but she never complained. Diane and Iver ran a mixed grain and cattle farm, and Diane was heavily involved in all aspects. Gardening, card parties at the house, family time at Emerald Lake and hunting were Diane’s passsions. Diane was also very active in the community, over the years she was a member and past president of the Walter Willoughby Horticulture Society, active participant on the Leask and District Recreation Board, was a brownie leader and sat on the executive of the Leask Skating Rink Committee. Diane spent countless hours watching hockey and figure skating as well. Ceramics and cake decorating were skills that Diane excelled in, numerous wedding cakes and community events were blessed with her handy work, including the 4 foot by 8 foot huge replica of the Leask RM at its Anniversary celebration. Diane and Iver were formally recognized for all their contributions by being presented with the Melvyn Bittner Memorial Sportsmen of the Year Award. Later in life Diane attended night classes at SIAST Kelsey Campus to attain a certificate in Special Care Aide, which brought her to work at Wheatland Lodge in Leask then Shellbrook. She also worked in Dietary and Cook positions. Family always came first for Diane, her generosity, perseverance and warm heart made her children into the people they are today. Diane Marie Banda Muller was more than a mother and sister to family members; she was a mother and sister to all who knew her. She was a remarkable woman.
