AGNES STEVENSON
February 5, 2021 was Agnes’s special day when God greeted her in Heaven.
Her Catholic faith guided her life. She prayed fervently and loved the church.
Agnes passed away peacefully at Mont St Joseph’s home in Prince Albert, SK.
She would have been 91 on March 26th.
Mom was born in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan and grew up on a farm near Smiley. She shared many stories about living on a farm during the dirty 30’s and her education in a one room schoolhouse. She lived and worked her entire life in Saskatchewan. She met her husband Bill at a Robbie Burns Dance in Regina. They were married on March 26,1949.
Mom worked at Sask-Tel for 27 years, retiring in 1986. A few years after her retirement she and Bill moved to McPhail’s Cove, at Emma Lake. It was a wonderful location where family and friends were welcomed year-round. She loved each visit and each visitor.
Some of Mom’s happiest times were spent with her grand children, nieces & nephews, reading, singing rhymes & songs, teaching them math through card games, baking, and cooking with them. She made the most scrumptious cinnamon buns (with lots of raisins and the best chewie, gooey sauce), a variety of breads, puddings, meat rolls, cabbage rolls, perogies and home-made porridge. She was always willing to share her meals and desserts along with her expertise and recipes.
Summers were filled with gardening, cooking, playing cards, walking, and visiting neighbors.
Fishing was a popular activity, and a family tradition entitled the first person to catch a pickerel, on any fishing trip, to collect 25 cents from everyone in the boat. Fresh fish fries were always done right!
In the winter Mom looked forward to Christmas gatherings, snowmobiling, sometimes while holding a kite, sewing, knitting, quilting for grandchildren, activities at seniors’ groups and extended visits to Whelan, Calgary, and Vancouver.
Mom, thank you for all you taught us, how you loved us, the strength you gave us, and the memories you created for us……You will be in our hearts forever.
She will be missed and remembered by her children, Sheila (Gerry), Glen (Glennys), Gail (Garry), and Ray’s partner Sherry. 11 grandchildren – Barry, Renita, Rob, Chris, Sheldon, Charmaine, Vanessa, Erica, Ryan, Shannon, and Tracey. 18 great grandchildren, her sister Frances, and numerous nieces and nephews. Aggie was predeceased by her husband Bill, her daughter Virginia, her son Ray, her grandson Warren, 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
Prayers & Love from your children, grandchildren & great-grand-children
Our family would like to extend our warmest appreciation to all the amazing staff at Mont St. Joseph Home, where kindness and support was shown to our Mother every day.
