DRON- WALTER On Sunday, October 5, 2014, Mr. Walter (Wally) Dron of Prince Albert passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 80 years.
Walter was born in Grand Prairie, Alberta on April 13, 1934 to Konstantin and Dora (nee Stymer) Dron. The family settled on a farm near Lymburn, AB where Walter and his three siblings grew up. He attended school in Hythe, AB, and graduated in Grande Prairie in 1953. He went on to work various jobs in Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories. Eventually he ended up in Calgary, AB, where he met Dorothy, whom he married on April 21, 1962. They had two sons, Donald and Robert. The family moved to Prince Albert in 1968 when Walter accepted a position at the Prince Albert Pulp Mill. He worked there for 27 years before retiring in 1994.
Walter loved fishing, golfing and curling. He also loved spending time with family and friends. He was especially happy when he was at his cabin at Candle Lake, SK.
Walter is survived by his wife of 52 years Dorothy, his sons Donald (Janice) of Athabasca, AB and Robert (Shauna) of Prince Albert, his 5 grandchildren; Tyler and Ryley of Athabasca and Ashley, Amanda and Colby of Prince Albert, his sister Eldy of Summerland, BC; brother-in-law Donald; sister-in-law Marlene as well as several nieces and nephews.
Walter was predeceased by his father Konstantin, his mother Dora, sister Olga and brother Victor.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 10, 2014. at Lake Park Baptist Church, Highway 3, with Pastor Matthew Teigrob officiating. A private family interment will take place at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
