Trevor Ives
1966 – 2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Trevor Ives. Trevor passed away in Prince Albert, surrounded by his family, on October 30th, 2023 at the age of 57. He was born April 7th, 1966.
Trevor often reminisced about the fun times with family and adventures growing up on acreage in the Martensville area. In 1984, Trevor began attending the University of Saskatchewan, where he obtained his business degree, majoring in accounting, and met his future wife, Shauna. The following years were spent in Calgary, where he made numerous friends, and discovered a love of the mountains and hiking. In Calgary, Trevor achieved his Chartered Accountant designation while working at Deloitte. In 1993 Trevor and Shauna moved back to Saskatchewan, settling in Prince Albert, and raised two children, Kyra and Lyndon, who were Trevor’s absolute pride and joy. Trevor also began his enduring and rewarding career working in First Nations business development. Trevor first worked for the Prince Albert Development Corporation, before moving to Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, becoming their CEO of business development. Trevor remained at Peter Ballantyne for over 25 years, and was very proud of his achievements. He also treasured his connections and friendships with colleagues and business associates.
Over the years, Trevor has served on numerous volunteer boards in both a business and personal capacity, including Indigenous works Canada and Myeloma Canada. He was also a huge advocate for blood and stem cell donation. In 2022, Trevor was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for his volunteerism, a great achievement, but he had aspirations to do so much more.
Trevor loved to see the world and combined many of his favourite things with travel. He loved his semi-annual Mexico fishing trips and exotic vacations with family and friends. He made dozens of trips to Regina to watch the Roughriders, and to Toronto to take in Blue Jays games. He was always up for a road trip whether it was north to fish and hike, or halfway around North America. Trevor was an amazing husband, father, colleague and friend, celebrating others’ achievements as much as his own. He always made family and friends his priority in life. Trevor was loved, respected, and will be missed by so many.
Trevor will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shauna, his daughter Kyra (Sean), his son Lyndon, father Wally Ives, brother Peter (Sandi), and two nephews Dalen and Ethan. He is also mourned by numerous extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Sharon (2016).
On behalf of Trevor, his family is grateful for the excellent treatment he received at the Saskatoon Cancer Centre, RUH, Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, and Warman & Prince Albert home care.
A Celebration of Trevor’s Life will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK
