Simon Alexander Woroniuk

1946 – 2026

Simon was born on August 19, 1946, in Melfort, SK.  He passed away at Jubilee Lodge in Kinistino, SK, on Friday, September 25, 2026.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Woroniuk; grandparents, Samuel and Caroline Wozniak, and Alexander and Wacelena Woroniuk; stepfather, Nick Buzak; his brother, Marvin Woroniuk; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He leaves to mourn his son, Yaras and Sherry Kent; his sister, Debbie and Mike Provencher; his niece,  Adrienne and Paul Martel and their daughter,  Mackenzie; his sister-in-law, Holly Stasiuk, and her children, Kyle, Dayna and Andrew Morris; his nephew,  Nathan and Xio Han-Woroniuk, and their daughters, Mae, Ella, and Alexa Woroniuk; his stepbrother, Ken and Jane Buzak, and their children,  Kaitlyn and Carter; his favorite cousins, the Sirey sisters,  and the Wozniak crew; and his previous loves of his life, Carin, Debbie, Mary, and Zoria.

Simon lived with his parents on the farm near Brooksby. His grandparents and cousins were close by, always working, playing and enjoying life together. This same connection was made along with his neighbours and the congregation of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church.  Simon also felt connected with the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Saskatoon. There, he sang in the choir and participated in many Church functions.

Simon had many careers in his life. He would always say that his favourites were being an award-winning hairdresser, and working at Gray’s Funeral Chapel and at Harold’s Grocery. He also worked as a Correctional Officer at the Prince Albert Penitentiary for 27 years, where he made many friends and stayed connected until he passed away. Simon was passionate about his motor bike, hunting, golfing, cooking, singing and enjoying life with everyone. He had thousands of friends and family across the country, all of whom would tell you stories and laughs about the good times they had with Simon.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Jubilee Lodge. He always said the food was good and the staff were fabulous. Thank you, Very Rev. Father Michael Lomaszkiewicz and Very Rev. Archpriest Taras Makowsky, for your constant payers and support.

The Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.  The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 684 3rd Avenue East in Prince Albert, SK, officiated by The Very Rev. Father Michael Lomaszkiewicz and The Very Rev. Archpriest Taras Makowsky. Interment will follow at South Hill Cemetery, 135 Marquis Road West and 1 Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK, with a light lunch to follow at the Elks Lodge 93 – 8 Avenue East, Prince Albert, SK.
