Richard Postle
1961 – 2024
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Postle on December 23, 2024 at the age of 63.
Rick was born on July 8, 1961 in Saskatoon, SK to Rodney Postle and Marian Postle (née Dawson). Rick grew up in Saskatoon, and the family moved around to Regina, Yorkton, back to Saskatoon, then to Calgary in 1970.
Rick was a very intelligent youngster. He skipped grade 3 and was only 16 years old when he graduated from Bowness High School in Calgary.
The family loved camping and four-wheeling in the mountains, so in 1977 the family decided to pull up roots and relocate to a remote location at Besnard Lake, SK. The summer of 1978 was spent building the cabin and cutting enough wood to heat the cabin for the winter.
Rick went to school for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and received his journeyman’s ticket. He opened his first business, P.A. Refrigeration and Repair, where he enjoyed many years of success. After closing the business, Rick went to work for Johnson Controls in 1993 for 23 years. Rick then started his own business P & F Heating and Cooling with partner Rocky Fraese. Rick retired from his business in December 2022 to enjoy retirement with his wife Judy.
Judy (née Leach) Postle came into Rick’s life in 1991. They soon started their life together, when their first-born son, Steven, was born in 1993, and their twins, Nathan and Nicole, born in 1994. Then they got married at their cabin at Besnard Lake in 1996.
Rick loved being outdoors. He taught the kids how to fish, hunt, and drive the boat. Rick instilled his values into the kids. He taught them hard work, integrity, and honesty, but most of all to have fun. To live life to the fullest.
Rick and Judy spent their days on the farm caring for the orchard, cutting wood for the upcoming winter, attending to the garden, and any little projects that Rick had on the go. Rick and Judy would end their day by watching the sunset together. They were living the dream together.
Rick will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his wife Judy (née Leach); sons Steven (Jess) and Nathan (Shelby); daughter Nicole (Dakota); grandchildren, Isaac, Lincoln, Owen, and Theodore; his sister Lori (Bill) Mathers; and numerous brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Rodney and Marian Postle, and numerous aunties and uncles.
Rick’s family would like to thank the Lakeland First Responders, Lakeland Fire Department, Parkland Ambulance, and the Rose Garden Hospice for the exceptional care and support given to Rick.
A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Midtown Hall, 540 9th Street East, Prince Albert, SK followed by a come and go tea.
