In Memory of
Kenneth Dave Paskaruk
1950 – 2024
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Kenneth “Ken” Dave Paskaruk, our beloved Husband, Brother, Uncle, and Grandpa (Papa), after living a fulfilled life of 73 years.
Ken was born on December 17, 1950 in Hamilton, Ontario, the eldest of three boys to Steve and Anne Paskaruk.
Steve and Anne Paskaruk returned from Eastern Canada in 1953 to purchase from Anne’s parents, Roy and Marjorie Swetka, the homestead broken near Paddockwood, Saskatchewan.
Ken had a very happy childhood, being the average kid raised on the farm who had his share of getting into mischief. During this time Ken regularly attended St. Bridgets Anglican Church in Paddockwood and participated in the Church Services.
After high school, Ken attended the University of Saskatchewan from 1968 to 1973, achieving degrees in Science and Law. Ken took his Articles in Saskatoon and was immediately employed by the Federal Bank followed by a transfer to Winnipeg and then back to Saskatchewan to be employed by the Province. Ken then went into private practice and eventually was employed by the City of Prince Albert where he served as it’s City Solicitor for nearly 21 years.
Ken met Ann Tkachuk (his soul mate, always loving and caring) and they married in 2001, remaining in Prince Albert until their retirement from the City of Prince Albert.
Since retirement in 2017, Ken and Ann spent a number of years working towards farm repairs for the love of the work and the farm itself during which time they eventually built their dream log home. During this time they were able to enjoy various sporting activities such as fishing, golfing and the like.
Ken is survived by his wife, Ann, two brothers, Larry (Maggy) Paskaruk and Philip Paskaruk, cousins, Blain (Donna) Mindiuk, and nieces and nephews, Kristin (James) Sedgwick, Adam (Jessica) Paskaruk, and Lisa (Justin) Fiske on the Paskaruk side; son, Glen Tkachuck, daughter, Kim (Scott) McDonald, brother in law, Leo Therres, grandchildren, Braden King and Mckenna King on the Tkachuck side; and very good friend Peter Fletcher.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Steve and Anne Paskaruk; his grandparents, William and Edna Paskaruk; Anne’s parents, Roy and Marjorie Swetka; Anne’s sisters Mary, Kasandra, and Katherine, and their husbands; and brother in law, Lance Tanner.
The Paskaruk family extends a heartfelt thank you to the care givers at the Victoria Hospital, Royal University Hospital, and their teams.
Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at St. Alban’s Anglican Cathedral, 1410 Bishop McLean Crescent, Prince Albert, SK. A luncheon and fellowship will follow. A private service at the foot of the Gethsemane and Sermon on the Mount in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Saskatoon will take place.
Donations in Ken’s memory may be made to the Diabetes Association, https://diabetes.ca/, or a charity of donor’s choice.
Family and friends may leave online condolences at https://grays.ca
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306) 922-4729, Lisa Bos-Atchison, Funeral Director.
Ken’s last wishes were that his funeral service was to be a Celebration of Life with no sadness shown, and that his final farewell include Louis Armstrong’s rendition of “What a Wonderful World”, a performance that is so quietly reflective of the joy of heart Ken carried so generously through his life.
