John Olynyk

1934 – 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Olynyk, who died peacefully on May 28, 2025 at the age of 91.

John Olynyk was born on February 26, 1934 to John and Dora Olynyk. He grew up in Canora, Saskatchewan. John was known for his love of playing country music (violin and steel guitar), his love for the farm, woodworking and his passion for friendship and great conversations.

John is survived by his loving wife Edie Olynyk of 50 years; his children Naomi and Michael (Diana) Olynyk, and Shelly (Al) Mclean; his sister Marge (Earl) Luhr; and his grandchildren Rochelle Mclean, Deren, Darcy and Logan Olynyk; and a host of very close nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his son Randy Olynyk.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Olynyk Farm. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
