James Joseph Henry Moan passed away at the Herb Bassett Home on Monday, August 30, 2010 at the age of 90 years. He was born June 26, 1920 in Wetaskiwin, AB. Jim was a WWII Veteran serving overseas and during his Army training days he met and married Florence (Faulconer) on January 1, 1943. Sadly after 64 years of marriage Jim was predeceased by his wife Florence on November 15, 2007. Jim is survived by all 5 of his children Larry of Edmonton, Patrick of Prince Albert, Sandra (Clark) of Arborfield, Nadine of Prince Albert and Bruce of Zenon Park; his 4 grandchildren Shane (Melissa) Clark, Alisa Moan, Patricia (Bruce) Bianchini and Shari Moan; his 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; his sisters Catherine Edwards and Alice Broomhall of Edmonton as well as numerous nieces, nephews and daughter-in-law Hertha Springer. He was predeceased by his parents Amos and Madeleine (Dymack); brothers John, Patrick and sister Mary Macado. Jim retired from the Saskatchewan Penitentiary in 1981 where he served in the Visits and Correspondence Department. He enjoyed being with his family very much, playing all kinds of cards and had a special passion for the game of bridge. Jim also enjoyed bowling and won many trophies right up to the age of 88. He was often heard giving his “Turkey Call” through out the bowling alley. Jim and Florence together again will be laid to rest with a graveside service at the Veterans Section of South Hill Cemetery at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 4, 2010. Brian Clarke will officiate. Officers and members of the Royal Canadian Legion will confer Veteran’s honours. Thank you to the staff at Lakeland Trail of Herb Bassett Home for their kindness and care.
