Charles Hegedus
September 5, 1937 ~ February 6, 2022
Charlie, a loving husband, Dad and Grandpa, went on ahead of us to be with our Saviour, Sunday, February 6, 2022.
Though he was up against many health concerns these past months, he chose to handle them with courage and kindness. He smiled at everyone who entered his room and thanked them for their care as they left. This week was quite a struggle for him, but our prayers for peace to come upon him were answered in his final hour.
Chuck lived here in Prince Albert most of his adult life. He married his life-long love, Donna (Zwack) on September 7, 1963. They raised their girls Diane (McDuff) and Marina (Pocha) and enjoyed life here with family and friends. He built a cabin at Emma Lake for the summers and enjoyed winter vacations in Hawaii for many years. He and Donna really enjoyed their time there! He built model airplanes, enjoyed model trains and was an avid target shooter for many years. A member of the Classic Cruizers Car Club, he enjoyed many a car show with his baby blue ’57 Ford Skyliner Retractable.
His lifelong career at Sask Tel brought many good friends into his life. He was a hard worker, a man of integrity. Starting on as a switchman at 17 and ending his time there as a construction manager, with 31 years of service!
“Poppa Chuck” will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren. The wonder of all his collections and garage sale finds will always bring a smile. His three great grandchildren filled his heart with joy.
We sure will miss him…. his smile, his laughter…. but we are comforted by the promises of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, with whom he now walks and laughs. We will see him again. Of this we are certain!
A huge thanks to the doctors and nursing staff on Level 6 (Victoria Hospital) for the kindness and care they extended while Chuck was there.
Any donations considered may be given in Chuck’s name to the Rose Garden Hospice, P. O. Box 2092, Prince Albert, SK S6V 6J4.
In respect of Charlie’s request, private family services will be held. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306) 922-4729.
