It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather Barry at the age of 64. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Marjorie (nee Bruvold), children Hali ('son' Scott Bailey), Kara (Abe Readman); grandchildren Thomas and Siven; brother Stan and numerous family members. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Patrine Johnson, his father and mother-in-law Benny and Mabel Bruvold. Barry was born in Moose Jaw SK, and grew up in Christopher Lake SK where his family owned Johnson Beach. He loved life at the lake and all it had to offer. There he went to school and later on went to P.A.C.I. He met the love of his life Marjorie in 1966 and in 1968 they were married. They built their life (having two daughters) together and a house on River Street which they took great pride in. In 1966 he also found his calling and became a Fireman. He showed great pride in his job and took on different tasks in the Fire Department including union representative where he worked hard for his belief in the union. He also took great joy in the various volunteer work in Prince Albert. In 1992 Barry and his family moved to Christopher Lake to own and operate the Country Cottage Restaurant. He spent many an afternoon helping out with the jobs that needed to be done. He retired from the Prince Albert Fire Department in 1995. Concentrating on his love for his childhood home in Christopher Lake, he was elected councillor, then Mayor, and took on various positions with the Christopher Lake Fire Department. In 2005 Barry found out he had cancer and fought it as best he could with the support of his wife through every step of the way. Barry is known for his love of camping, fishing, playing cards, stained glass work, photography, retouching photos, and his love of computers. Barry lifted the spirits of those around him with jokes, teasing and his love of a good debate. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 29 from the Christopher Lake Legion Hall. Pastor Kenneth Bruvold will officiate. Interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date. It is the family’s request that donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Family and friends may send email condolences to www.riverparkfuneral.ca. So no matter what, remember the jokes and pranks and the look he got when he realized he was wrong. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wayne Timoffee, Funeral Director and Colette Kadziolka of RIVER PARK MEMORIAL CHAPEL. 764-2727
