MORRIS ARDEN DESORMEAU
September 5, 1933 – July 17, 2014
Morris Arden Desormeau, born Sept 5, 1933 to Lucien and Phyllis Martin Desormeau, formerly of Prince Albert, SK, passed away peacefully at home in McBride, B.C. on July 17, 2014. Born in Prince Albert, while his family resided in the Steep Creek area, Morris was joined a few years later by his siblings, twins Marvin Ray and Marlene Fay. The family spent Morris’ teen years in Kinistino, then moved to the Red Wing area where Morris met and married Ruth Thom. Their son, James, and daughters Kathy, Cheryl and Beryl joined the family in Red Wing. When the local plywood plant closed in 1961, Morris moved his family to B.C. to work in the forest industry. While there, daughters Karen and Shelley were added to create the large family Morris always wanted. Morris was known for his talented woodworking and carving skills. He was loved for his generous heart and continual acts of kindness. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Ruth Thom Desormeau, son James (Karen; Kamloops, B.C.), and daughters Kathy Desormeau (Prince Albert, SK), Cheryl Lipke (McBride, B.C.), Beryl Hagen (Darrell; McBride, B.C.), Karen Desormeau (McBride, B.C.), Shelley Hatchard (Rex; McBride, B.C.), eighteen grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren (number 28 on the way!) and numerous relatives in the Prince Albert area. Morris was a man of great faith whose first priorities were always his God, his family and his friends. He will be sorely missed. Rest well until we meet again, Dad!
