Monica McLeod (Thornton) passed away suddenly on October 1, 2016 at the age of 92. Monica was born in Darlington, GBR on February 18, 1924 and was the only child to Ernest and Katharine Thornton. A war bride to her husband of 47 years Roderick H.M. McLeod (predeceased), she made the journey from England by ship and rail with her then infant daughter to Marcelin SK to live, thrive and become a Canadian citizen. Events saw her and her growing family move to Blaine Lake, Melfort, and Prince Albert. For some years she has spent winters in Nanaimo, BC. Monica enjoyed a rich, full life and was very active and engaged until her passing. She is sorely missed by those that knew and loved her. Monica is survived by her daughters Sheila (Barry) and Fiona (Sam), her sons Colin (Doreen)and Neil (Debora). Her grandchildren Fiona (Andrew) and Monica (Travis), Benjamin, Roderick and Mika. Her great grandchildren Darwin, Esme, and Alasdair. A service of remembrance will be held in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan at St. Alban’s Cathedral on November 12, 2016 at 1 o’clock.
