1955 – 2020
On July 21, 2020, Mitchell Joseph Keenatch, late of Big River First Nation, passed away suddenly at the age of 64 years.
The Wake & Funeral Services for Mitchell will take place in the Big River First Nation Band Hall. Mitchell will be laid to rest in the Whitefish Catholic Cemetery.
Mitchell is lovingly remembered by his mother, Catherine Keenatch of Canwood, SK; his children: Lester Jim of Witchekan Lake, FN and his children; Leslie Jim (John Mercredi) and their children Tobias and Kai Mercredi; Byron Jim; Leeann Jim; Levi Jim; Lexi Jim; Leivayah Jim; and Lateisha Jim; Stanley Jim of Witchekan FN and his sons: Japhept Jim; Ethan Jim; Eli Jim; and Jase Jim; Kevin Jim (Jessica Mosquito) of Witchekan FN and children: Kaylee Jim; Kevessa Jim; Kevin Jr; Kenny Jim; and Kendall Jim; Walter Jim (Carol Bill) of Witchekan FN and children: Carter Jim; Gasper Morin; Terrance Morin; Gabriella Morin; and Honor Morin; and Dakota Pocha of Saskatoon, SK. His siblings: Virginia Keenatch of BRFN; Lona Keenatch (James Kahpeechoose) of Big River FN; Sally Keenatch (Stanley Kahpeechoose) of Moody Lake FN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mitchell was predeceased by his father, Roy Chamakese; his brothers, Ross Keenatch and Melvin Keenatch; his maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Agnes Keenatch; his paternal grandparents, Ikey and Elsie Chamakese; his son, Byron Jim; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives. Pallbearers for Mitchell’s service were Willard Morin, Brian Morin, Leon Keenatch, Kelly Keenatch, Conrad Yew, and Edward Keenatch.
