Karen Lee Bradbury
June 9, 1951 – August 24, 2022
It is with great sadness we announce the death of our beloved sister, aunt, godparent, great aunt and friend, Karen Lee Bradbury. Karen Lee passed away at home on August 24th, 2022, in Prince Albert, SK.
Karen Lee was the second child, oldest daughter of Caryleen and Jack Bradbury of Prince Albert. She was the sister to Murray (Predeceased), John (wife Michele and their children Meagan and Brandon), Judy (daughter/goddaughter Caryleena and her husband Len and their children Kaleb, Athena, Gunner, and Nova) and her “best buddy”, her cat Garcia.
Karen Lee was born and raised in Prince Albert, SK. She attended Queen Elizabeth Elementary School, Prince Albert Collegiate Institute, University of Regina, obtaining her Bachelor of Fine Arts, the University of Saskatchewan, Bachelor of Education and the Athabasca University, Master’s Degree of Education. Upon completion of her formal education, Karen Lee began working in various northern communities in Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories and Alberta, teaching adult upgrading. She had a deep belief that education was the first step in bettering oneself. She was a strong advocate for animal rescue and spay and neutering projects. Through her life, she brought many dogs and cats into her family that she found as strays.
Karen Lee was a talented artist. Her paintings were mainly focused on the places she lived and people she met. Her later works included the likenesses of two of her great nephew and niece, Kaleb, and Athena.
Karen Lee loved spending time with her family. Her favourite times were spent at family BBQ’s, watching her great nephews and nieces swim in the pool, or just listening to their stories. She was greatly involved in their lives and was always ready to offer help or suggestions concerning their education. She enjoyed time spent with friends. Going out for lunches or just talking on the phone.
The family would like to thank her special friends, Dorothy Albright, Barb Dalziel, Peggy Ward, and Jack Stewart, for their friendship, help and support over the years and through her illness.
There will be no formal funeral per her request.
Donations in Memory of Karen Lee can be made to two organizations she whole heartedly believed in. The North Of 54 Frontline Dog Rescue ( gyungwirth60@gmail.com ) or CATSask Adoptable Fur Babies( catsaskatchewan@gmail.com )
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306) 922-4729.
