Heartbroken, we announce the passing of Emilie Yvonne Gobeil, age 21, on July 26, 2022. She was surrounded by love, now at peace from a brainstem glioma tumour.
Emilie was born in Prince Albert, SK on January 3, 2001 to Jacqueline Gobeil. Emilie came into this world a true hero to her Mom; Jake often attributes to her as her saviour throughout these short 21 years. We all can testify to her stubbornness, strength, and compassion, as she fought like a girl to teach us to keep on going through the good times and the bad.
Emilie was a French Immersion student, attributing her love of education and language to Ecole St. Anne, Ecole Holy Cross, Rivier Academy, and graduating in 2019 from Ecole St. Mary High School. Pursuing her ultimate dream of becoming a Secondary French Immersion educator, she attended the College of Education at the University of Saskatchewan. Education was important to Emilie; she made this adamantly clear, as she completed the majority of her 3rd year despite her diagnosis. Emilie was challenged daily towards her goal, while withgoing treatments and multiple surgeries. Emilie was an avid student and artist; she enjoyed, drawing, painting, the flute, and culminating with beading. She was meticulous and patient, as she self-taught herself the art of beading jewellery, keychains, lanyards, and pop sockets. Her art has been sold around the world through her Metis Beadistry site.
Emilie meant the world to her Mom; she was her world! The two struggled alone and won, with love on their side, and help from family. Jake said we all contributed to raising this amazing young woman. Emilie was a daughter to Jake and 10 years ago became the big sister to Olivia. She cherished their little family. Emilie loved Olivia, her little Sissy, despite their sisterly fights.
Emilie met the love of the life 2 years ago; Carson (Babe) was her Rock. Her face lit up when he walked in the room, sent her a quick message, or at the mention of his name. They planned a future full of love, children, and cats. During these last 6 months, her childhood dreams of having her husband living in the basement, while she lived upstairs with her Mom, came true. Kitt (Kitt Kaid), Ivy (Chicken), Edwin (Turkey) were her loyal companions and sense of comfort; The Poultry never left her side/legs, snuggling under the blankets and terrifying the nurses.
Emilie was a little sister to her cousin Jenna and big sister cousin to Nohl, Nicolas, Gracie, Robyn, and Lincoln. They grew up together, sharing stories, adventures, and secrets.
Emilie was a daughter to her Aunty Renee, Tammy, Christena, Lizanne and Chantal. Sleepovers, shopping trips, excursions, movies, the Office, gossip sessions and sometimes inappropriate talks helped mold Emilie, as it takes a crazy bunch of aunties to raise a child.
Emilie was a cherished granddaughter to her Nana and Pepere. She lived her first three months with her Mom and Nana and graciously the last three months, as Nana moved home to spend time with Emilie, Olivia and Jake. Emilie was Nana’s girl and holds a special place in her heart. Nana taught her to crotchet, craft and that a girl could do anything. Emilie felt comfort that Nana was happy and safe with Brian.
Pepere and Baba spent many days and nights with Emilie. They shared an incredible bond. She enjoyed putzing in the garage, slurping Mr. Freezies, eating Cheeezies, gardening, and being “scared” so Pepere would sleep with her.
Emilie had two dear friends Andra and Jaeda, who stuck by her through all the good times and the monstrous ones. She treasured their friendship and loyalty, visits, phone calls, snaps, art sessions and pedicures.
Emilie is survived by her Mom Jacqueline Gobeil, sister Olivia Gaudet (Olivia’s father Bob Gaudet), Love Carson Hall- Kitt and The Poultry, grandparents Rene (Fay) Gobeil, Yvonne (Brian) Alexander; Aunty Renee (Keith) Garrison – Nohl (Sarah), Gracie; Aunty Tammy (Ryan) Aiken- Jenna, Nicolas; Aunty Christena (Adam) Konrad – Robyn, Lincoln; Aunty Lizanne (Jonas) Moffatt; Aunty Taunte Chantal (Blake) Edwards- Aiden, Logan, Sara; dear friends Andra Buglass and Jaeda Thurber; Mom and Dad Hall – Brennan; dogs Alice and Georgia; special Aunty Shannon (Keith) Brassard; brother Carter Kristensen, as well as honorary aunties, uncles, family and friends.
Emilie is predeceased by her great-grandparents Armand and Emilie Gobeil and Edward and Theresa Brassard.
