Minnie Donald

DONALD, Minnie, late of Prince Albert, passed away after a lengthy illness on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at age 91. Minnie was born April 17, 1920 in Donnybrook, Saskatchewan. She later moved to Prince Albert where she attended school and on November 23, 1942, married John Melvery Donald. Minnie raised 2 children and worked part time for a few years in the bakery and retail business. Later Minnie joined the Commissionaires and worked at the Penitentiary until her retirement. She enjoyed playing Bingo and watching curling, baseball, hockey and equestrian events. Minnie is survived by her daughter Gail (Keith) Nielsen; granddaughter Heather Nielsen; special niece/daughter Marlene (Bill) Leith of Rosetown; one sister-in-law Anne Churchwell of Saskatoon; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as great-nieces and nephews. Minnie was predeceased by her father and mother Bert and Margaret Churchwell; her loving husband, John Melvery Donald; and her loving son John James (Jack) Donald. She was also predeceased by her sisters Florence Churchwell, Pearl (George) Spani and Ruby (Basil) Murray; her brothers Art Churchwell, Charles Churchwell, Bert (May Powers) Churchwell and Jack (Vivian) Churchwell. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, it is the request of the family that a donation be given to a charity of your choice in Minnie’s memory.
