March 30, 1919 – July 28, 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred (nee Konkin) peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Good Shepherd Villa in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 97. Known as ‘Millie’ to many, she is survived by: her sons Wallace Wayne Maloff (Debbie) of Victoria, B.C. and Moreley James Maloff (Bretta) of Calgary, AB; her sisters Eva Erdman (Wilfred) of Saskatoon, Sask, and Helen Schlichemeyer (John) of Marcelin, SK; her brother Walter Konkin, of Red Deer, AB. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years Nicolai (Nick) Nicolovich Maloff in 2011 and her brother Nick Konkin, Calgary AB. Born and raised in Saskatchewan in the Riverhill district, Mildred spent the majority of her life in Prince Albert. Being a daughter, mother, sister and aunt was her joy. We will fondly remember her zest for life and her love of family gatherings. Mildred was a homemaker ‘par excellence’ starting with an extensive vegetable and flower garden which she nurtured and attended to lovingly. She treasured being in the kitchen preparing homemade preserves, stocking the freezer and baking which she shared generously with family, friends and those in need. Mildred also excelled in creating a myriad of hand crafted exquisite knitted and crocheted items – some of which were donated to the hospital. She was always open to learning about new crafts which included pottery and making Christmas and garden ornaments. Mildred and her late husband also enjoyed ‘camping’ in their trailer in northern Saskatchewan. She was always willing and ever able to help out. She touched many people’s lives and will be remembered by family and friends alike for her kindness and generosity. The family extends special thanks to the staff of the Good Shepherd Villa for their compassionate care of our mother. In accordance with Mildred’s wishes, there will be no funeral. Instead, following cremation, a private family memorial in honor of Mildred’s life will be held at a later date at Riverhill Cemetery Family and friends may view the obituary and sign the guest book at www.riverparkfuneral.ca In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to the P.A. Women’s Shelter or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11 Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of RIVER PARK MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Prince Albert, SK 306 764-2727 Donald M. Moriarty, Funeral Director.
