A beautiful spirit has left us far too soon. On Saturday January 8, 2011 Michelle “Missy” Harasyn passed away suddenly from circulatory failure. Born April 20, 1967 in Prince Albert to Fran and Mike Harasyn, Michelle was the youngest of nine children. Her life-long nickname ‘Missy’ was a clue to someone very special. Always generous to a fault and never one to complain, Missy grew up in a busy household with three sisters, five brothers, and an assortment of pets, all of whom were rewarded by her caring personality. As children, Missy and her sister Lori were inseparable and often thought to be twins. As a child Missy had athletic prowess and excelled in gymnastics, soccer and swimming. She especially loved the time spent at her parents’ cottage at Emma Lake, and enjoyed water sports with family and friends. She was the first one in the lake each spring even if there was still ice on it! Missy had the benefit of special invitations to sleepover at her big sister or brother’s home growing up and in due course, become Godmother for two of her nephews, Brennen and Jordan. She enjoyed the company of her many friends, her grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins in Prince Albert. While her brothers were expected to help their father with the many projects he took on, Missy and her sisters helped mom in the kitchen. Missy loved to bake and was a promising homemaker. She also proved she could work as hard as her brothers in her own way. Missy and Lori were Dad’s “special” helpers when he was building decks, fences, an addition on the cottage, and shingling or painting. She could drive a nail or a Bobcat with equal ease. After her graduation from Carlton Comprehensive High School, Missy chose to take training in Horticulture from SIAST, and applied it knowledgably in the garden centres where she worked in Prince Albert. Missy was well-suited to talk to customers, and loved helping people purchase bedding plants. She also had a keen affection for animals having also worked at a veterinary clinic, and took great pleasure in watching them play or caring for them. Her love of plants and flowers was noticeable in her beautiful yard. In recent years Missy loved being outdoors with her soul mate Keith Kubica whose connection to Christopher Lake brought them often to the Lakeland area. Whether it meant hunting, fishing, golfing, or just visiting Keith’s mom Colleen at her home at Bell’s Beach, Missy was keen to go. Missy enjoyed visiting with her family and friends, and had a special way of making others feel important. She enjoyed having fun and had a gentle streak of her dad’s mischievousness. Her warm smile and unique greeting “Hi-ee!” were endearing. Missy is lovingly remembered by her partner Keith Kubica; his mother Colleen and her family; Missy’s family, her mother Fran; her siblings Shirley (Philip) Parr, Dale (Linda), Brian, Donna (Rupert) Chicoine, Jerry (Anita), Alvin (Renée), Kenny (Paige) and Lori; her nieces and nephews: Raichel Parr; Angela, Pamela, Zane, & Cindy Harasyn; Mikey Harasyn; Naomi, Joshua & Michaela Chicoine; Melissa & Adam Harasyn; Karl, Paul & Nicole Harasyn; Brennen & Jordan Harasyn; her great nieces Sadie, Coralee, and nephew Travis; her aunts Nellie McKeen, Gina Bozsak, Helen (Bob) Kratz, Karen (Al) Roddick, and Darlene Ellefson; her uncles Jack (Debbie) Harasyn, John (Evelyn) Harasyn, and Lloyd Jones; her cousins Dave McKeen and family, Cole Harasyn; Warren (Charmaine) Harasyn and family, Stevie Bozsak, Coby (Ray) Horetchka and family; Jackie Elliott and family; Kim (Frank) Jones and family; Rodney Jones, and Gordon Robinson and Missy’s special friends Susan Dusseault, Colleen Adams and Mickey Mamchur and their families.
