Michael Edward Tereposky – A Life well Lived
1930-2025
Michael (Mike, Mick, Mickey) Edward Tereposky, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on May 22, 2025, at the age of 95, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
Mick was born in Welland, Ontario to Mike Jr. and Mary (Toth) Tereposky on February 18, 1930. Mick then moved with his family to a homestead south of Lestock, Saskatchewan. He completed his high school education in Lestock.
On October 22, 1955, he married the love of his life, Louise Macza at Lestock. The newlyweds initially resided with Mick’s parents on the family farm south of Lestock, until they purchased their own land south of Leross. Mick, enlisting friends and relatives, constructed the family home there in which the couple lived, with their five children, until 1997. After selling their family farm, Mick and Louise retired, buying a home in Kelliher. He and Louise spent their retirement years golfing and camping across Saskatchewan and also took many trips, including many visits to see their children and grandchildren across the Canadian provinces but as well they made major trips to Europe (including Hungary), California, Mexico, Yukon, Alaska, Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia. When Louise passed away in 2010 after a courageous three-year battle with cancer, Mick continued to reside in Kelliher until 2020 when he moved into the River Breeze Retirement Home in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
Over the years, Mick was very active in the Lestock, Leross and Kelliher communities, serving on the Board of Directors of the Lestock Credit Union, as a member of the Knights of Columbus, on the Sask Wheat Pool committee, as a councillor for the Rural Municipality of Kellross and on the Kelliher Village Council. He was also active in the Mary Queen of All Hearts Catholic parish in Lestock, assisting with building the rectory and serving as a lay minister for several years. Farming and all of his volunteering did not stop him from participating in baseball, softball, golf, curling and bowling as a player and coach. Mick also served as an umpire for countless softball games and tournaments over the years. He was devoted to his large garden full of raspberries, apples and vegetables. Yard work was his pleasure, he even found energy to shovel snow for his neighbours when he was over 80 years old. He elaborately decorated the house with Christmas lights each year winning recognition for the best decorated house in Kelliher. After becoming a “bachelor” for the first time at the age of 80, Mick even learned to bake his own bread to the delight of his children and grandchildren as well as making muffins, cookies and cakes that he would bring to share when attending the Kelliher Senior Citizens’ Hall to play shuffleboard. Mick was a positive, kind and happy person and was known to always have a story or joke to share. He delighted in making his family and friends laugh with his quick wit, even at 95 years old.
Mick passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Thursday May 22, 2025, at the Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert after a short hospital stay. Mick joins in heaven his beloved wife and best friend, Louise, his parents Mike and Mary, his sister Helen and brother Alfred. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister Evelen of Chestermere, Alberta; five children, Barry (Georgie) of Prince Albert, Brenda (Bruno) of Montreal, Quebec, John (Terri) of St. Albert, Alberta, Carol (Ray) of Calgary, Alberta and Karen of Calgary, Alberta; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 7, 2025, at St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Kelliher, SK. Interment will follow in Kelliher Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mick may be directed to the Kelliher Memorial Gardens Cemetery Fund, Box 385, Kelliher, SK, S0A 1V0.
