It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Mervin Fjeld, who left us unexpectedly on November 17, 2025. His departure has created a quiet, aching space in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Mervin was a man of quiet strength and unwavering loyalty. Those who spent time with him knew his commitment, and he had a rare and steady reliability — anyone in his life could count on him through both good times and challenging ones. Hard work wasn’t just something he did; it was a part of who he was, and he took pride in everything he undertook. Though he was tough and resilient, he balanced this strength with kindness, showing that true toughness can coexist with a gentle heart.
In his later years, Mervin embraced retirement and fulfilled a lifelong dream of living on an acreage. The property reflected his nurturing spirit and meticulous nature, a place full of memories and love. Above all, his heart belonged to his wife, Diane. Their bond was a quiet, unwavering love built on mutual respect, strong family ties, and a lifetime of devotion.
Mervin’s three daughters were his pride and joy, and his love expanded even further with the arrival of his seven grandchildren. He spent countless hours cheering them on at dance recitals, gymnastics meets, hockey games, and ball diamonds. From quad rides on the acreage to shared moments of laughter and guidance, he created memories with his grandchildren that will be cherished forever.
Though he lived a full and meaningful life, those who loved him will feel the emptiness of his absence. Mervin was not only a devoted husband, father, and grandfather but also a steadfast friend, a role model, and a quiet pillar to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was defined by dedication, love, and integrity, and the impact he made will continue to live on in the stories we share, the memories we cherish, and the lives he touched.
Merv is survived by his wife Diane; daughters, Jodie Fjeld and her children Braeden, Eithen and Macy; Amanda Fjeld and her children Jake and Sam; Meghan Casavant (Brad) and children Hayden and Beckett; his brothers, Harvey Fjeld (Diane), Ted Fjeld (Phyllis) and Craig Fjeld. He was preceded by his parents, Arnold Fjeld and Hannah Johnson; brothers Leroy Fjeld, Roger Fjeld; and sisters, Linda Samoleski, Shirley Fjeld; father and mother-in-law, Leo and Marie-Anna Prefontaine; sister-in-law, Lynn Prefontaine and nephew, Julien Gobeil.
