It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our aunt, Maxine Olson of Prince Albert, SK on May 25, 2025 at the Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert, SK.
Auntie Maxine was born in Weldon on August 3, 1935 and in 1940 she and her family moved to Prince Albert, SK. Auntie Maxine lived in Saskatoon for many years before she moved back to Prince Albert, due to her health, to be close to family.
Auntie Maxine will be lovingly remembered by her nephews and nieces: Brian (Shannon) Olson, Calgary, AB, Bert (Linda) Olson, Regina; Brenda (Warren) Andrews, Kamsack; Greg Olson, Regina; Tom McKenna Jr. (Sherie Dickie), Prince Albert; Rick McKenna, Prince Albert and Karen (Grant) Tait of rural Prince Albert; cousins Norma Hein, Elaine Watson, Valerie Wojak and Debbie LaBay and many great nieces and nephews.
Auntie Maxine was predeceased by her parents Evelyn and Clarence Olson, brother and sister-in-law Albert “Abby” and Marg Olson, Lloyd and Joan Olson, sister and brother-in-law Doreen and Tom McKenna Sr.
Auntie Maxine was one of the kindest and most thoughtful persons that you could ever meet. She cared deeply for all of her family and friends. Her memory for remembering everyone’s birthday, anniversary or special occasion was remarkable! Everyone received a card mailed to them, or a phone call, to commemorate their special day.
Auntie Maxine would talk fondly about her work at Pinder’s and RUH and how much she enjoyed working there. Lifelong friendships were formed wherever Auntie Maxine worked or travelled to. She was also great friends with Barb, her Avon lady of many decades, and her cousin Marilyn.
When she moved to Prince Albert she resided at River Breeze Retirement Complex. She was welcomed immediately by caring staff and loved the ladies and staff that she shared her time with while she lived there.
Auntie Maxine was at the Victoria Hospital before she moved to be a guest at Rose Garden Hospice. I would like to personally thank the nurses and staff at the Victoria Hospital and 4th floor for their compassion and care as they constantly went above and beyond to care for Auntie Maxine. They were all very thoughtful and considerate of her care and needs. I am beyond thankful that her final days were spent at Rose Garden Hospice. There was no shortage of care, consideration and compassion for Auntie Maxine while she was there as a guest and I am very grateful that she was able to spend her final days with such love and dignity. Thank you.
We, as her nieces and nephews, were very fortunate to have someone that was so much fun to be around and grow up with. We will all cherish our individual memories of our time that we had with Auntie Maxine.
Following Auntie Maxine’s wishes, we will have a private graveside service in her honour.
If you wish, donations can be made to the Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert, SK.
May you forever Rest in Peace Auntie Maxine. With love always, your family.
A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday May 31st, at 11:00am. At South Hill Cemetery, Prince Albert, SK.
