Maxine Boyle
1933-2026
Maxine Claire Boyle, nee Harvold, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the Regina Lutheran Home. She was born May 29, 1933 in Prince Albert. Maxine was the first child of Olaf and Laura (Benjamin) Harvold.
Maxine spent her early years in the Foxdale area, living on the family farm, attending school at the one-room schoolhouse. The family moved to Prince Albert when she was in Grade 3 and she completed her schooling there, attending PACI and business college. Her family attended St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir.
After school, she took up secretarial work for the DNR. In 1953, Maxine married a Canwood farmer, Walter Boyle, and settled on the family farm in the Moose Valley area. She was a strong farm wife raising her children, keeping a garden, tending poultry, sewing clothing, and baking bread, among countless other chores.
Farming is weather dependant and the early 1960s were very dry. Maxine went to work first at the R.M. office and then at the CIBC in Canwood. Her career at the bank spanned jobs from teller to branch manager. She took further training courses offered through the bank and also night classes from the University of Saskatchewan.
When Maxine retired early from CIBC, she started work in the credit union system, eventually becoming the manager of the Lang Credit Union. When she retired for the second time, she settled in Regina. Her last career was knitting, a skill she learned at the age of four years old! Her work, often siwashes, appeared for sale in various places around town for many years, and she filled many custom orders.
Maxine was a community person and enjoyed skating, curling, dancing, golfing, and watching her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She led the Canwood Community Choir for several years, served in the Royal Purple, and supported the Anglican Church. Her combination of financial and community talents involved her in a variety of fund-raising activities for the construction of the Canwood Elks Hall and the Canwood Skating Rink. In Regina, she was active on the board of the Senior Citizens Centre and sang with the Singing Grannies.
Maxine was predeceased by her parents, and her beloved son, Jefferey Boyle of Calgary, her sons-in-law, Deryl Coates and Harvey Nelson, and her brother-in-law, Ben Moline. She is survived by her five daughters: Laura Coates of Regina, Barbara Boyle of Regina, Diana Nelson of Canwood, Donna Boyle of Regina, and Darla Boyle of Regina; and her grandchildren: Amanda and Darren Carter and their children Roan, Rhys and Fynlea Carter; Brandon and Dina Coates and their children Jacob Nathanail and Rachel Nieckar-Borden and their daughter, Zora, Jessica Nathanail and her daughter, Violette, Athena, Petra and YB Coates; Alannah Boyle; Logan Nelson; and Jessie and Tyler Hall and their children Dallas and Sadie Hall. Maxine is also survived by her sister, Marj Moline of Shellbrook and Marj’s children, Greg, Cindy and Graham; and numerous cousins.
Her family wishes to thank the staff of the Regina Lutheran Home for their care of Maxine.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Canwood Elks Hall, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 1:00 p.m., followed by interment in the North Canwood Cemetery.
