It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father and grandfather Maurice. Morris was born on March 26 in Biggar, SK to parents Romeo and Odile (nee Tinant) along with seven siblings (Leonie, Art, Henriette, Therese, Alice, Georgette and Andy) in the Whiteshore District. He was educated at Whiteshore and Cecilia Schools. While finishing his schooling and for a few years afterwards, Morris worked as a farm helper for his uncle Gus Tinant. He then moved to Edmonton where he worked as a truck driver and then as a welder. He joined the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool as a helper in the Biggar District followed by moves to other locations as an elevator agent (Landis, Lipton, Avonhurst, Reynaud, Hoey and St. Louis). Morris spent 40 years with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and then worked for many more years for Roger Begrand who had purchased the last elevator that dad had worked at (St. Louis-Hoey).
Morris was an avid sportsperson and enjoyed participating in many sports over the years. He was a hard throwing baseball pitcher and spent many weekends playing ball. He was also an amazing curler and spent many years curling with his three sons as they were growing up and curled many games well into his senior years. In his later years he enjoyed golfing and bowling. Morris also had a true green thumb, planting gardens both at his house in St. Louis and at his farm. His house was always filled with plants that thrived. His freezer was filled with berries that he had picked. He loved to share and eat the pies that he made with his berries.
Morris married Rita Labuik and together they had four children. Morris is survived by his four children: Wayne (Betty), Robert (Bev), Jim (Linda) and Darlene (Andy) Forrest; his grandchildren: Brandon (April), Stacey (Oliver Brassnett), Joey Magnin, Michelle (Jaret Schneider), Xavier, Ash, and Robert Forrest; his great grandchildren: Kain, Gabby, Emily, Ainsley, Nala, Sophia, Drizzt, Max, Harley and Peyton; his sister: Henriette Schaff; along with many nieces and nephews from his siblings. He was predeceased by his parents: Romeo and Odile (nee Tinant) and six siblings.
