It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Lena Wood (née Muzechen) on March 21, 2015 at Oliver Lodge at the age of 90 years. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband Roy, sister Catherine, and brother William. She will be deeply missed by her son Bill (Maureen) Wood of Melfort, and her daughter Laurie (Rick) Hopkinson and granddaughters Stephanie (Fiancé Jared) and Jillian Wood of Saskatoon. Also left to mourn are Mary’s sister Agnes Gaspard of Vancouver and sister-in-law Olive (Greg) White of Regina and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was born and raised in Moosomin, and after graduating from Grade 12 she moved to Regina where she met the love of her life, Roy, and they were married in 1948. From there they lived in Moose Jaw, Tisdale, Prince Albert and Saskatoon. Throughout her life, Mary was a very active volunteer in many organizations, including Saint Alban’s Anglican Church Ladies Auxiliary, The Red Cross, The Canadian Cancer Society, Welcome Wagon, and was a very active member of Beta Sigma Phi International Women’s Sorority for over 50 years. Mary loved gardening, oil painting, and enjoyed socializing with friends for countless hours while doing various crafts. She was a very fun loving, caring and kind person. Special thanks from the family to the very caring staff at Oliver Lodge for their wonderful care of mom throughout the nine months she lived there. A Celebration of Mary’s life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s name may be made to Oliver Lodge-Angels of Care (1405 Faulkner Crescent, Saskatoon, SK S7L 3R5). Arrangements are entrusted to Charmaine Menard.
