Mary Cecile (Letendre) Lucier
January 7, 1945 – August 6, 2021
76 years old
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Cecile Lucier announce her sudden passing on August 6, 2021 in Prince Albert SK. Mom was born on January 7, 1945 to John and Jean Letendre, the sixth of eight children. She was raised on the family farm near Mont Nebo, SK and later, the family acreage near Leask, SK. Mom always spoke fondly of her childhood. Whether it was riding horses, working in the garden, chopping wood or enjoying a horse drawn sleigh ride, the memories always brought a smile to her face. In her later years, she yearned for that simpler time, living off the land and being close to nature.
As a young woman, mom tried on several different career hats and lived in many places across western Canada before deciding to become an LPN. Her caring and compassionate nature made her well suited for the job, however, she soon gave up this career for the biggest and most important role of her life – wife and mother.
Mom married dad (Anthony Lucier) on April 24, 1976 in Prince Albert, SK. They made their home in Leask, SK, where they raised 5 children. The strong work ethic mom developed as a child was very apparent in her role as a mother. While dad was away working in Churchill, MB. from May to October, mom did an amazing job caring for 5 young children, maintaining a household and garden! But that was mom, she seemed to excel at everything she did. She was smart as a whip, a great cook, artist
Mom also loved her role as a granny. She was blessed with seven, yes seven granddaughters! She had a special relationship with each of them and it brought her such joy and happiness to have them in her life. Mom was a HUGE Elvis Presley fan. Over the years she collected a large collection of Elvis memorabilia
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her children: Dean, Jan, Richard, Deanna and Monica (Darren) Pocha; granddaughters: Charlotte and Claudia Youngbird, Isabella and Arianna Lucier, Madison, Maria and Hayden Pocha; siblings: Alfred (Pat) Letendre, Theresa (Charlie) Sinclair ; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mary was predeceased by her husband: Anthony Lucier; parents: John and Jean (Piche) Letendre; brothers: Marcel Letendre, Leo Letendre, Pat Letendre; sisters: Ilene Fairey and Mona Neepin
Mom, we are forever grateful that we were blessed with an amazing mother like you. Even though we will miss you dearly, we take solace in the fact that you are with dad in a better place. There will always be so many special things that remind us of you . The sound of a train rolling by , church bells ringing, an Elvis, ABBA or Polka song playing as these were such therapeutic things you enjoyed and will forever be in our hearts .
At Mary’s request, a private family service will be held at a later date. Family and friends wishing to send online condolences are welcome to visit www.beaulacfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Beau “Lac” Funeral Home, Tracy-Lynn Lenchuk, Funeral Director, Prince Albert, SK 306-763-3322.
