(formerly Mary Horbal, nee Bourassa)
Mary was born in Meeting Lake, SK, to William and Josephine Bourassa (nee Lavallee). She was their second born, and eldest daughter, of eight children. Mary grew up and resided in Prince Albert, SK, where she was married to Steve Horbal, in 1943. They were blessed with their adoptive daughter, Donna, in 1950. After Steve’s untimely passing in 1970, Mary was wed to her second husband, Arnold Henriksen, in 1975. They continued to reside in P.A. for many years, and eventually settled in Saskatoon. Mary had recently moved to Melfort, SK, to spend her final days close to her family.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Josephine, husbands, Steve and Arnie, and brothers, Leo, Emile, and George. Left to mourn her passing, are her daughter, Donna; granddaughters, Sharol (Christian) and Rosalind (Cory); great grandchildren, Preston, Myles, Declan and Anya; honorary grandchildren, Rome, Kaprise, Cloe and Aaron; sisters, Rose, Yvonne and Annette; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
The family extends sincere gratitude to the nursing staff at Melfort Union Hospital, for the kindness and compassionate care given to Mary in her final days. Also, many thanks to Dr. A. Omalambe, the Kelsey Trail Health Region staff, and others who were involved in providing her with medical, and spiritual care.
“We’ll miss hearing the tales, that only your telling could do. Until we meet again, we raise a glass to you.”
