Mary Jane Miller

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Jane Miller announce her passing on June 12, 2026, in Birch Hills, SK at 90 years of age.
Mary was born on October 21, 1935, in Wakaw, SK, to Fred and Marie Lypchuk. After moving often during her childhood, Mary’s family settled in Birch Hills where she and her brothers and sisters helped their parents run both a theatre and a restaurant.
It was in Birch Hills that she met the young man she would spend the rest of her life with, and on August 3rd, 1956, Mary married her beloved husband, Lorne Miller. They moved to the family farm where they made their life together and raised their two children, Beverly and Ron.
Mom was dedicated to Lorne, her children, their families, the farm, and her community. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and helping on the farm. She volunteered at the Birchview Nursing home, and was a member of the Brancepeth ACW, the Birch Hills C&D Authority, and the renowned Grid Road Strummers.
Mom was strong-willed, with little patience for anything she believed to be unfair. She always had many suggestions on how to improve things – building a machine shed, planning crop rotations, and operating farm implements – her willingness to contribute often had no bounds. But, always, she had her family’s best interests at heart. She wanted the best for them. She always cared, and cared deeply.
She liked having fun – dancing, travelling, and family dinners. With Lorne, and often with her children, parents, and Dennis, she travelled throughout North America, Hawaii, Mexico, and the Caribbean. After retirement, Lorne and Mary enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona.
Mary was a wonderful spouse, mother, grandmother, and daughter. She is and will be missed deeply.
Mary is survived by her husband of 70 years, Lorne; her daughter, Beverly (Brent) Fenner; her son, Ron (Marian) Miller; Beverly’s children, Shannon (Patrick), Shaun (Krista), and Sheryl (Robert); Ron’s children, Rebecca, Michael (Lauren), Rachel (Nelson), and Roselin; her great-grandchildren, Emma, Myaah, Brittney, Jayden, and Blakely; and extended family David Nichol. Mary is also survived by her siblings Phyllis (Wayne) Braaten, Dennis Lypchuk, Darlene Walker and Donald (Marlene) Lypchuk.
She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Marie; Lorne’s parents, Jim and Vera; and her siblings, Edward (Arlene) Lypchuk, and Sylvia (Bud) Stevenson.
Mary’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Birchview Nursing Home for the wonderful care, patience and support they gave to Mary and the whole family.
Private family services will be held. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be directed to the Birchview Nursing Home, Box 578, Birch Hills, SK, S0J 0G0.
