NAGY HARRIS – Mrs. Marjorie
Marjorie Maxine (nee: Pompu) Nagy Harris was born on March 10, 1935 to parents George and Susan (nee: Popoman) Pompu on a farm in the Bramshott-Leask district. This completed a family of ten children, Mary (Fred) Baun, Adam (Loretta Exner) Jack (Isabelle Clements), Alex (Louretta Wiehage), Eva (Alex) Boehm, Lena (Walter) Wilson, Loretta (Martin) Maczulski, Edna (David) Peake, Shirley (Ward) Giles. This family was well known for their wonderful musical talents, and enjoyed sharing their love of music with everyone around them.
Marjorie married Zolten Nagy on July 8, 1952 and lived on the farm in the Bramshott area until Zolten’s passing in December of 1991. No visitors ever went away hungry, and there were many visitors. Whenever Marjorie had any spare time she would be found playing her music and writing her songs. In the 70’s, when their children had left home, they would start to work off the farm. Marjorie started as a cook in road construction camps for South Construction and Pott’s Construction. In 1985 both Marjorie and Zolten took on the task of being caretakers at Emerald Lake for 4 years.
In 1988, both Marjorie and Zolten decided to retire due to their health. After Zolten passed away in December of 1991, Marjorie lived in Leask where she enjoyed her work at the Leask Hotel until the fire in 2010. In 2007 Marjorie got remarried to Robert Harris from Leask, where they lived together till her passing on June 14, 2016 in the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon at the age of 81 years.
